Source: https://www.thegamer.com/ps3-vita-psp-stores-permanently-closed/ Highlights: PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable stores will close on July 2nd, 2021. PlayStation Vita stores will close on August 27th, 2021.
Let's discuss this! I'm disappointed, but I saw this coming eventually. I wonder what this means for DLC on PlayStation 3. If the DLC is no longer available to be purchased after these dates, then the only way to get DLC on LBP2 and LBP3 PS3 will be to modify the game.
What are your thoughts?
Now I'm hearing people say that the report is actually false or somewhat inaccurate. If anyone has a source to say otherwise I'd like to see it! I don't want the online store to go down!
Well this certainly isn't great but it's to be expected given Sony's switch to focus on the PS5 platform, I have a really uneasy feeling that this is possible going to spell that Sony is going to cut even more support to the platform in the future because the online storefront was a massive component that's being shut down.
This is definitely going to impact the ongoing avalanche of issues with the LBP servers and their repair process. One big question I have is will this have any effect on the PS4 LBP3 since it is still reliant on LBP2 and LBP1 DLC transferring over since it uses the same engine and online framework. Wonder how the devs are going to handle this especially since I don't think they were given much forewarning either that this was going to occur.
Totally unrelated but man this is really going to drive up prices of used physical PS3 games now that they cannot be acquired digitally. Just seems to be bad news after bad news but I'm still pretty positive the community is gonna hold out strong going forward.
I thought the PSP store was closed already since i havent been able to acess It since 2018, weird.
