Breaking: Dreams PS4 Users Hit by False PSN Bans

This is a developing story. More details will be added as we learn more. This post was last updated on 2/15/2024 at 8:44 AM EST.

In a very similar incident to the recent LittleBigPlanet 3 PS4 ban wave from last month, Media Molecule’s Dreams players appear to be in the same predicament.

At 9:23 PM last night, Chunkinator104 tagged Media Molecule, the developers of creative engine title Dreams for PS4, on X (Twitter) to report that their account had been falsely suspended from PlayStation Network.

Popular LittleBigPlanet YouTuber BlazingVictini was one of the first to respond, vouching for Chunkinator104’s innocence. He speculated that the incident could have been caused by the same person responsible for the LittleBigPlanet moderation crisis last month that resulted in a temporary server shutdown. “I can vouch for Chunkinator104,” Victini explained. “This was a false report and was most likely done by the same people behind the LBP moderation attacks that happened a few weeks ago.”

Chunkinator104 wasn’t the only one. A number of other users have been banned from PlayStation Network. Another notable user to be banned is EpicLBPTime, another popular LittleBigPlanet YouTuber.

So far, we only know of only five accounts that were affected. They are,

  • Chunkinator104
  • EpicLBPTime
  • AquaLBP
  • TheOfficialAyee
  • Assordion
  • FattyMcintosh
  • Silverhawk_LBP
  • Tubebrawlers
  • Private-Joker_34
  • Palma3D
  • m88youngling (profile moderated only)

Media Molecule responded very quickly to the situation and were able to reverse the suspensions without any server downtime. They posted this announcement seven hours after the first false suspension report:

Steven Isbell also responded to complaints about the incident:

So far, Dreams does not seem to be experiencing any downtime. However, this has resulted in some members of the community to question why Dreams is able to remain online while LittleBigPlanet 3 has remained offline for almost a month following a very similar incident.

The leading hypothesis behind the crisis last month is that the incident was caused by an exploit, where each user is specifically targeted. Although a very similar pattern is occuring here, there isn’t enough information to say for sure.
